Just before entering further in the woods, Brandon took a look at the sky and the sun, trying to guess what time it could be. From what he could tell, it was halfway the afternoon, which would leave him still a couple of hours before sunset. That meant he had enough time to walk further in the forest and still be able to built a secure shelter. Feeling stronger every minute he decided to get a good walk. Looking to the path, he noticed it was used more often than the one time someone had brought him the drink. Trying not to leave a footprint, Brandon managed to reach the path for closer inspection. There were several different footprints, and because of that, his' wouldn't be noticed easily. That would make his walk so much easier, and thus being able to reach further in the woods.
After about an hour the woods had grown much more dense. All kinds of big trees were surrounded by smaller bushes, giving a perfect opportunity to start looking for some shelter for the night. Brandon had seen some animaltracks, although not from bigger animals than a wild boar. Still, they could be fiercesome, so a good shelter would be necessary.
Brandon left the trail cautiously, trying again not to leave a footprint. Back home noone could be trusted, due to the civil war that was raging. Leaving a track in an unknown forest, being convicted of murder and exiled because of that, would not be a wise thing to do. However, it meant that his pace would be a lot slower, but as he hadn't seen anyone yet that day, it would be worth the risk.
Half an hour later, after carefully searching, he had found a good location. A small cluster of trees with some thick bushes in the direction of the path woudl offer perfect consealment. Between the trees was a little clearing where he could lay down later when he needed to sleep. During his walk he had already picked up some sticks and branches, which he could use for the rest of his shelter. He could find no animaltracks in the surrounding, which was a good thing, because it meant it wasn't a common route for the animals and so most likely Brandon wouldn't be disturbed during his sleep.
Trying to look through the leaves of the trees above him, he saw it was still a clear sky. It meant he wouldn't need to worry about putting something over him to protect him from rain. He just had to clear a bit of the ground from small twigs and then he could start creating a makeshift bed from small leaves, covered with a couple of bigger ones.
After another half an hour Brandon was as good as finished. In his search for good leaves, he had spotted some roots, which he knew he could eat. Being a bit exhausted from the labour, he could do with some sort of dinner to get back energy. The roots were hitting the right spot, and after a couple of them, Brandon had had enough for the moment and was getting tired. Taking a last look around to see if noone had spotted him yet, he finally let himself down on his bed of sorts and closed his eyes.
